CILIP is your professional body, and we need you to work with us, share your ideas and aspirations and encourage others to get involved. The more we hear from the full range of our members, the better we can plan to meet your current and future needs.
This guide has been produced to tell you about the different ways of making your voice heard through the CILIP AGM.
How to get involved
As a member there are a number of ways you can be part of the AGM and how CILIP works. The main business of this AGM is to review how CILIP is performing financially. You can get involved whether you are able to attend the event or not, this guide sets out how.
- Vote - at the AGM (voting by proxy closed on 10th October)
- Have your say in a debate
- Ask a question – either formally at the AGM or informally via Twitter
All individual members have the right to vote. You can vote in person or by selecting a proxy to vote on your behalf if you can’t attend the AGM.
Proxy voting closed at 5.30 pm on 10 October.
After registering to attend the AGM it’s important that you read the agenda which will explain what you will be able to vote on. You will receive a pack with information at the AGM with full details. Votes are cast by a show of hands.
Members get the chance to debate the issues in the resolutions proposed including financial performance, next year’s subscription rates (although this year these have already been agreed at the EGM in March) and resolutions proposed by members.
The Chair of the AGM will allow enough time for full discussion and will conclude the debate once all key points have been made.
Members can ask questions at the AGM and a member of the Board or staff will provide a response. We ask that you let us know your question in advance so we can provide the most informed answer possible.
We will Tweet from the AGM and do our best to answer all question. It isn’t possible to formally interact with the AGM through social media. Please use #CILIPAGM
